School District Climate Resources

Regional School District 13’s School Climate Policy reflects our commitment to creating learning environments where every student and staff member feels safe, valued, and connected. The policy is grounded in prevention and proactive relationship-building rather than punishment or reaction. By focusing on clear expectations, open communication, and shared responsibility, we work to ensure that all members of our school community contribute to a culture of respect, empathy, and belonging. Our goal is to address concerns early, support positive behavior, and foster the kind of caring community where students can learn, grow, and thrive. This is how we'll uphold our Core Ethical Values of Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, Kindness, and Courage.

A key part of this approach is our use of Restorative Practices, which help strengthen relationships and repair harm when conflicts occur. Instead of focusing solely on consequences, restorative approaches encourage accountability, understanding, and problem-solving. Circles, dialogue, and collaborative reflection help students and adults alike build trust and develop the skills to resolve conflict in healthy ways. Through this work, RSD 13 continues to model a district-wide belief that strong relationships are at the heart of great schools — and that when we restore, we grow. #RestoreTheCore
