Dear Parents:

As we begin the month of February it is hard to believe we are heading into the second half of the school year. I would like to extend my congratulations to all students who participated in our recent Winter Concert. In addition, I would like to commend our music teachers Mr. Schulenburg and Mr. Fisher for their hard work in making the concert a huge success.

The month of February is often a snowy month. Please remind you child of contingency plans in case of early dismissal. Please note the information listed below.

• A reminder that Wednesday, February 1, 2012 is the deadline for requests of program change. Any parent requesting a change in program for their child should inform me in writing prior to this date.
• We are having increasing numbers of students who are arriving late to school. Please work with your child to ensure that he/she is arriving to school on time. Late arrival to school means a disruption to learning in the classroom and also requires your child to make up work. Also if your child arrives late to school we are requesting that you accompany them into the building to sign them in. Thank you for your attention in this matter.
• Our second 6th Grade TGIF Night will take place on Friday, February 3rd from 6:30- 8:30 p.m. Please note that all participants must have a signed permission slip to attend. Please contact Diane Breton at 860 349-9106 if you would like to volunteer at the event.
• After School Clubs – Memorial Middle School’s six-week After School Clubs program will begin early in March. A variety of clubs are being offered to students through the middle of April. If you are able to coordinate a club or assist in any way please contact Kathy DeBrum at 860 349-4300.
• The Parent Council will meet on February 13, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the Library /Media Center. Please attend and support the many worthwhile programs coordinated by the Parent Council.
• A reminder – Thursday, February 2, 2012 will be a 2-hour delay day. School begins at 9:50 a.m.
