ACTIVITIES AND STRATEGY HINTS
Four Mat Challenge: Four to six players are placed on a mat. The object of the game is to get all players and mat across the gym without anyone touching the ground. If you any body part touches the floor the team must move back to the starting position.
Strategy Hint- Think about being an inchworm.
Treasure Island: Four zones are created in the gym. Each zone has a mat on the ground with 8 bean bags. Each zone also has a hula hoop in the far end of the zone. The idea is simple, sneak across the zones and take a treasure (beanbag) and get it back to your zone without getting caught. If you get tagged in another zone you go to the hula hoop and must be rescued by another player on your team. At the end of a timed period the teams must count up their treasures. The team with the most wins the game.
Strategy Hint- 2 players should always guard their own treasures, one person should guard the hula hoop, and two should go and try to get treasure.
Strategy Hint- Always try to steal the treasure that is closest to you. It’s easier.
Human Knot: Three groups are made and put into circles. Each person reaches across the circle and grabs another persons hand. A knot is formed. Now the group must get the knot undone. You cannot let go.
Strategy Hint- Listen on one another and work on certain halves of the circle first. You don’t all have to be facing the same direction.
Lord of the Rings: Two teams are made and the playing area is divided into two halves. Each team must sneak across the space and grab one ring at a time and bring it back to their side without getting caught. If you get caught you must go to that teams jail. The game is over when all rings have been brought to one side.
Strategy Hint- Place 3 people guarding the rings at all times. Always rescue your players from jail as soon as you can. If you are about to be caught, turn around and get back.
Four Zone Pin Knock Down: The gym is divided into four zones and one safety zone in the center of the gym. The teams must protect their own pins as well as try to knock down the other teams pins. If all of a teams pins are knocked down they must sit down and devise a better strategy to play the game. You play until 3 teams have no pins left standing. Each team is only allowed to go into their own zone as well as the safety zone.
Strategy Hint- Place the majority of your team guarding the pins. Have only one person go and try to knock down the other teams pins.
