Welcome Back!

Students and parents are invited on Wednesday, September 1st to "Meet & Greet" their teacher.  Classroom teachers will be in their rooms from 8:30 to 10:00 AM. Parents and students, along with our teachers, can meet each other informally and put a face to a name.

Thursday, September 2nd is the first day of school and is also our Open House.  Open House begins promptly at 6:00 PM. Open House begins in the gym where Principal Laurie Sinder will speak briefly. Parents will then go to the classroom where teachers will talk about the curriculum, their expectation for students and take questions from parents.

Instrumental Night for parents of 4th grade students will be held at John Lyman School on Tuesday, September 7th at 6:00 PM.  Cheryl Wiener, band director, will inform parents of the choices of instruments, rental plans and what her expectations are for students.

On Tuesday, September 14th at 6:00 PM the BKPTA will hold their first meeting of the year at Brewster School.  We encourage all parents to attend.  The BKPTA provides funds for many activities, such as enrichment assemblies, Go Far Running program, before and after school clubs, and at Brewster, built a playscape. Please plan to go and become part of this wonderful organization.

Our fourth graders go to the Thimble Islands on September 21st and 22nd.This trip enhances their novel study of "The Windcatcher" by Avi. 

The last major event for the month of September is the Durham Fair. There is no school on Friday, September 24th, Durham Fair Day.  Teachers turn the  Fair into an educational experience by incorporating it into math and writing lessons.
