January Happenings District 13 parents have a choice of two programs for their child in elementary school: the Integrated Day Program at John Lyman School (K-4) or the Contemporary Program at Brewster School (PreK-2) and Korn School (3-4). During the month of January, parents new to the District, as well as parents who are considering a change in program for their child, visit both programs and decide which program would best fit their child. The visits begin on January 8 and end of January 30. Please call the schools to schedule an appointment. January 16th is an early dismissal day (1:35) for students. Staff will spend the afternoon in professional development workshops. There is no school on January 19th in honor of Martin Luther King. The Korn School Band will hold an informance for parents of band members on January 27th at 2:30 (snow date February 3). Parents are always surprised as to how much progress their child has made since September. Update on Trout in the Classroom (sponsored by the Durham Fair): The eggs have hatched and hundreds of tiny trout can be seen swimming around. Students have been busy recording their observations in their Science Journals.
