A Message From Our Principal... Andre Hauser
Principal

 September, 2010

Hello Everyone,

Thanks for taking a minute to check in at the CRHS website. The big news right now is that our new assistant principal, Brian Bodner, who started on Monday, Aug. 9, is already knee-deep in efforts to get the school off to a good start for the students, teachers, and staff!

As I mentioned in my last message, there are a few changes in store for students when they return to school this September. Construction is underway on the athletic facilities project, and we have GREAT NEWS regarding parking. Although parking is limited, Seniors and Juniors will be able to park in the lined, roped off area on Pickett Lane between the Softball Field and Korn School parking lot. Students must have a current SY10-11 parking permit.

We are also hard at work improving the homeroom/advisory program to make it more interesting and responsive to students’ needs. Students will notice that Homeroom is now called Homeroom/Advisory Period.

A few dates for you to keep in mind this fall, especially if you are a  parent of a student who will be new to CRHS:

  • Our annual Get Acquainted Night will be held on Tuesday, September 21, beginning with opening remarks at 6:30 p.m. in your child's DAY A1 Block class. This traditional event offers you the opportunity to meet your child's teachers and learn more about the objectives, methods, expectations, major assignments, and assessment procedures in each of his/her classes.
  • Get Acquainted Night will also give you a chance to visit with representatives from various CRHS organizations and activities as well as to inform you of upcoming events and opportunities within the Coginchaug community
  • On Thursday, September 30, the guidance department will host the Senior Parent College Forum at 7:00 p.m.
  • October 7, Thursday, at 7:00 p.m. in the CRHS library the Parents Forum will hold a Meet & Greet with myself and Assistant Principal Brian Bodner. Please plan on joining us at this informal meeting where the group starts with comments and discussion before addressing a relevant topic.

Of course, these are just a few of the dates and events here at Coginchaug this fall, so keep checking the web site for information on sports and other upcoming events.

Have a great day,

Andre Hauser
