CSLF to Launch Parent College Planning E-Tips
Beginning fall 2008, the Connecticut Student Loan Foundation will be offering online monthly college planning tips for parents. We will offer e-subscriptions to parents of freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Each edition will cover timely information targeted to parents of students by grade level. For instance, junior parents will receive tips on how to plan a college visit, advice on how to assist in the college search, and reminders of when students should begin registering for admissions tests. Parents of seniors will receive tips on how to assist students with the college application process and information on financial aid. This is an exciting new endeavor. Parents interested in receiving this Parent College Planning E-Tips can sign up online at www.cslf.com.

Time Management Tips
  1. Make a "to-do" list every day. Put the most important things at the top and get them done first.
  2. Use spare minutes wisely. Get some reading done on the bus!
  3. It's okay to say "No." If your boss asks you to work on Thursday night and you have a test Friday morning, realize that it's okay to say you cannot work that night.
  4. Find the right time. Figure out when you do your best work. Does your brain handle math better in the morning?
  5. Review your notes every day. You'll reinforce what you've learned so you need less time to study. You'll also be ready if your teacher calls on you or gives a pop quiz.
  6. Get a good night's sleep. Running on empty makes the day seem longer and your tasks more difficult. Take care of yourself!
  7. Communicate your schedule to others. Let your friends know that you will be unavailable for a certain amount of time each evening as you get your homework done. You KNOW this will work!
  8. Don't waste time agonizing. Have you ever wasted an entire evening worrying about something that you were supposed to be doing? Instead of worrying, just DO it!
  9. Keep things in perspective. Set realistic goals for yourself. Make them difficult but reachable!
