Once there was a rainbow fish who looked beautiful and he didn't have a friend. He asked a crab to be his friend. The crab said no because he had a shell.

Next, he asked a blowfish and the blowfish said, "No, because I am a blowfish."

Then a shark came along. He asked the shark and the shark said, "Yes!"

"I can't be your friend," said the blowfish. "I can puff out and scare sharks and you can't do that."

Next, he went to the octopus. "Octopus, will you be my friend?" said the rainbow fish.

"I can't because I have eight tentacles and you don't," said octopus.

Then he went to the jellyfish. "Jellyfish, will you be my friend?" said the rainbow fish.

"No," she said.

"Why not?" said rainbow fish.

"I already have a friend," said the jellyfish.

Jessica Loffredo's first graders write gingerbread stories for the holidays!

The Gingerbread House

By: Giulio

Hurray a snow day! My mom said we could make a gingerbread house.

First, I helped my mom roll the dough.

Next, we put it in the oven. She set the timer for 11 minutes. I couldn’t wait! It smelled so good!

Then, we took it out and we put up the walls to the house. We also put on a roof.

I used lots of frosting to make the walls and roof stick together.

Finally, I added candy. My favorite candies were the

M & M’s and the Twizzlers.

It felt great to make my very our gingerbread house!

Gingerbread Cookies

Hurray a snow day! My mom said we could make some gingerbread cookies.

First, mom and I made the dough. I spilled salt everywhere!

Next, mom helped me roll the dough. I used a little girl cookie cutter. They looked so good.

Then, mom put the cookies in the oven. She put the timer on for 16 minutes.

Finally, the timer went off. I got the frosting out. I frosted one at a time.

Then, I put the sprinkles on. They looked so good. I asked if I could have a cookie. Mom said yes.

When I think back to that day, I wish I had some leftovers!

Hurray a snow day! My mom said we could make a gingerbread house.

First, we made the dough. I spilled flour everywhere. The kitchen was as white as a cloud.

Next, mom set the timer for 1 minute. It smelled so delicious!

Then, we used chocolate frosting to keep the walls of the house up. I covered the whole house with frosting.

Finally, we used red gum drops for the roof and Twizzlers for the door.

When I think back to that day I wish I had some leftovers.

Hurray a snow day! My mom said we could make a gingerbread house.

First, my dad and I got some graham crackers. One fell on the floor and my dog ate it. My dad got the frosting. We used this to make the crackers stick together.

Next my dad got out the candy. I used red-hots for the stones. While I was decorating I got some frosting on my finger. It tasted yummy!

Then my sister said, “Can I help?” We said, “Yes!” We decorated some more. We used green gumdrops for the bushes. It was so exciting. We had so much fun!

Finally, my mom got home from the store. When she walked in we yelled “Surprise!” She couldn’t believe what we made!

When I think back to that day, I wish that everyday was a holiday!

Hurray a snow day! My mom said we could make some gingerbread cookies.

First, we made the dough. My mom helped me to not spill anything on the floor.

Next, we rolled the dough. We used a cookie cutter to make shapes.

Then, we put the shapes in the oven. Mom set the timer for 25 minutes.

Finally, the timer went off. The cookies were done. The whole family ate them.

When I think back to that day, I wish I could taste them again.
