Brewster School’s Environment: |
Pine Grove’s Environment
Parker, Colorado: |
We explored our squares of life in the prime of autumn so the trees we observed, such as sugar maples, had leaves changing into beautiful colors such as bright reds, oranges, yellows, and brown.
|
Pine Grove’s environment seems to be much drier with squares containing a cactus, brown wheat grass, dried rose buds, and a Ponderosa Pine tree.
|

|
Comparing the Two Schools:
One similarity we found was that each environment contained spiders. We found insects such as hornets, flies, and bees where they found snakes & butterflies. Their state grass is wheat grass which is brown unlike ours. Our trees have colorful leaves and their environment contained green cactus and rose bushes. |

Reasons For Similarities and Differences:
Colorado’s land is quite different than ours in Connecticut. They are surrounded by wilderness, mountains, and canyon lands. They have drier air and low humidity in all seasons while. We both have hot summer days and can have cold winters.
Our Conclusions:
We enjoyed exploring “Squares of Life” in our environment. We found most of our predictions to be correct, having found sugar maple trees with changing leaves, insects, grass, weeds, & rocks. We enjoyed comparing our information to Colorado’s environment, which is different in many ways. The children predicted that their findings may be different in Colorado since they are in a different part of our country and are surrounded by mountains and higher elevations.
