Job opportunities in Regional School District 13 are divided into two categories: certified and non-certified. Certified positions include teachers, administrators, and professional support staff, i.e. counselors, psychologists, library/media specialists, etc. Non-certified staff include maintenance, secretarial, food service, and paraprofessionals.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Position: Elementary Classroom Teacher (1.0 FTE); Grade 4

School:  Memorial School, Middlefield, CT

Position Available:  SY 2017-2018      

Qualifications:

  • Certification; 305
  • Knowledge of and training in Columbia Teachers College Writing Workshop (preferred, not required)
  • Familiarity in PowerSchool/PowerTeacher (preferred, not required)

Reports to:  Building Principal

Position Overview: Regional School District 13 is seeking a full-time Grade 4 Teacher for the 2017-2018 school year. The successful candidate will work as part of a collaborative grade-level teaching team, will participate as a member of the language arts professional learning community, and will work closely with colleagues to assess and evaluate student data to support and guide student learning outcomes.

 Job Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Creates an engaging classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Grading and Assessments  (Familiarity with PowerSchool/PowerTeacher preferred/not required)

  • Participation in faculty meetings and related school events
  • Communicates effectively with students, staff and parents

ELEMENTARY/MIDDLE SCHOOL

Position: Special Education Teacher Assistant, Memorial Middle School (Grades 4-6)

Position Available: SY 2017-2018

Last Date to Apply: Open until filled 

Reports to: Building Principal/Pupil Personnel Director

Primary Function: To assist teachers in achieving teaching objectives by working directly with identified students. Knowledge, Experience, and Qualifications: Associates Degree or 60 credits required, or successful completion of paraprofessional assessment. Candidate should demonstrate the skills and ability to work with students with identified needs, including communication and language, academic and life skills. In particular, the candidate should have experience working with students who have significant behavioral and cognitive needs. Must be able to implement behavioral strategies and interventions under the direction of a supervising teacher as well as collect program data. Responsibilities may also include toileting, assisting with feeding and lifting in addition to physical management training. Must be able to demonstrate flexibility and problem-solving skills as well as be able to work as part of a team and receive on-going training. Proficient computer skills also required.

Salary and Terms of Employment: 32.5 hours per week, 5 days per week. Salary: $17.00-$22.37/hour

Job Responsibilities:  

*Payroll
*Process Bi-weekly Payroll for 400+ employees including the processing and payments of all time cards, deductions, state   and federal tax payments and uploading banking files
*Prepare and send all quarterly State and Federal Tax reports  
*Prepare, upload and reconcile monthly Teacher Retirement Board information to the State of Connecticut  
*Prepare and upload all 403b files  
*Prepare and distribute W2’s and Affordable Care Act 1095 Forms, upload information to the State of Connecticut, IRS and   the Social Security Administration  
*Calculate and maintain Health, Dental and Life Insurance Excel premium payment spreadsheet for employee benefit      deduction and IRS requirements  
*Manage Absence Management System  
*Upload attendance in HR  
*Assist HR computer system as back-up  
*Assist Business Manager with the budget process, including financial and personnel data  
*Maintain an electronic database for districtwide forms
*Maintain accurate records for tracking sick time for part-time employees  
*Coordinate health benefits and serves as point of contact for staff questions and changes; manages open enrollment  
*Assist the Pupil Personnel Director in the creation and preparation of yearly tuition invoices for MTA
*Maintenance of petty cash reconciliation for Central Office  
*Organize annual employee flu clinic
