Job opportunities in Regional School District 13 are divided into two categories: certified and non-certified. Certified positions include teachers, administrators, and professional support staff, i.e. counselors, psychologists, library/media specialists, etc. Non-certified staff include maintenance, secretarial, food service, and paraprofessionals.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Position:  Kindergarten Teacher - Long Term Substitute

Location:  Brewster Elementary School

Reports to:  Building Principal

Primary Function:  Full-time Kindergarten Teacher Long Term Substitute needed from end of April 2017 through end of School Year/June 2017.

Knowledge, Experience, and Qualifications: State of CT Teaching Certificate for Kindergarten.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Design, plan, and implement lessons based on state standards
  • Work with other members of the kindergarten staff to plan instructional goals, objectives, and methods
  • Guides the learning process towards the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives
  • Ensure accommodations and modifications are made for the growth and development of all students
  • Guide students in maintaining acceptable standards of classroom behavior
  • Maintain records of individual student achievement and evaluating students on a continuous basis
  • Prepare June progress reports
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff and parents
  • Uphold and enforce school rules, school board policies, and administrative regulations
  • Support and promote the District’s Core Ethical Values

Qualifications:  

  • Intermediate administrator certificate (092)
  • Professional educator certificate
  • At least five years successful classroom teaching experience
  • Demonstrated experience in K-12 curriculum development (UBD), instruction and assessment
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to work effectively with a team
  • Innovative thinker with sound decision making skills
  • Excellent facilitation skills as well as presentation skills (including ability to present data in an understandable manner)
  • Experience with analyzing district-wide data and leading data teams/PLC's
  • Experience with oversight/involvement with STEAM, digital literacy 

Reports to: Superintendent of Schools

Job Goal:  To provide leadership in the development, implementation and coordination of the District’s K-12 curriculum management plan and to oversee instruction and assessment.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Guides the development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum, instruction and assessment.
  2. Ensures that a CCSS aligned curriculum is utilized and supported within the learning community. 
  3. Promotes the 4C’s (Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking & Creativity) as anchors for student success in a global society.
  4. Coordinates district assessments (STAR, F&P, SBAC/CMT) and compiles student achievement data analysis, and monitors their use in improving the instructional program.
  5. Coordinates grade level and departmental meetings to effect horizontal and vertical alignment and articulation of the curriculum throughout the district.
  6. Oversees the curriculum writing process and presents progress to various stakeholders.
  7. Prepares and manages annual curriculum budget.
  8. Works in conjunction with central office leadership to plan professional learning designed to curriculum, instruction and assessment.
  9. Develops and implements state and federal grants that support curriculum, instruction and assessment (Title II, Title VI).
  10. Coordinates district intervention model along with the Pupil Personnel Director.
  11. Works with the Pupil Personnel Director to ensure effective coordination between general and special education.
  12. Supports staff in the implementation of Scientifically Researched Based Instruction (SRBI).
  13. Supervises the work of the Technology Integration Specialists to ensure that technology integration is consistent throughout the curriculum.
  14. Supervises the implementation of State and Federal mandates related to curriculum, instruction and assessment.
  15. Works with school administrators to develop and implement school improvement plans.
  16. Coordinates Extended Year Summer Program.
  17. Evaluates teachers as assigned by the Superintendent.
  18. Supports and promotes the district’s Core Ethical Values with students, colleagues and parents.

Title: Business Manager

Connecticut (085) required


Reports to: Superintendent of Schools


Supervises: Business Office Staff, Supervisor of Building and Grounds, Director of Food Services, Director of Technology and Paraprofessionals


Job Goal:

To provide sound fiscal management and leadership in all business related matters in Regional School District 13 including: daily coordination of the business office; development, preparation, management and monitoring of the annual budget, creation and oversight of long-term capital planning; implementation of innovative strategies to ensure fiscal efficiency; active contribution and participation with target groups including but not limited to central office leadership team, building administrators, Finance Directors from Durham and Middlefield, and the Board of Education. Prior experience in a regional school district preferred. Excellent references indicating a strong working relationship with prior superintendent. Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills required.


Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities:

  • Controls all funds and accounts for further certification by outside certified public accountants contracted by the Board of Education.

  • Assists in the preparation and presentation of the annual budget.

  • Prepares financial reports to present to the Board of Education.

  • Prepares and formulates fiscal policies and procedures for further approval and recommendation by the Superintendent and Board of Education where necessary.

  • Directs and controls the business operation of the District by supervising the accounts receivable and payable, payroll and budgetary control operations.

  • Supervises and coordinates Business Office staff, including accounting, payroll, purchasing/procurement

  • Directs, coordinates, and implements purchasing procedures for the school system.

  • Invests District funds in appropriate revenue producing instruments consistent with state law.

  • Maintains a fixed assets inventory.

  • Assists in the formulation of transportation policies and regulations, and works closely with the transportation contractor on procedures, routing, scheduling, inspection and condition of school buses.

  • Directs and works closely with the supervisor of food services in handling the business and financial functions of the food service operation.

  • Assists and advises on personnel negotiation matters.

  • Attends Board of Education meetings and sub-committee meetings as required.

  • Prepares and reviews agreements including certified and non-certified salary agreements and vendor agreements.

  • Directs and works closely with the Supervisor of Building and Grounds in the overall repair and renovation of District facilities.

  • Coordinates with the school administrators and Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds the inspection of the physical plants and property for the purpose of insuring safety, cleanliness, and upkeep.

  • Directs, maintains and controls personnel requirements of all non-certified personnel.

  • Assists the Superintendent in coordination and preparation of all state and federal reports, grant proposals, and other requirements affecting the school district.

  • Assists the staff in research and writing of state and federal grant proposals.

  • Supports and promotes the District’s Core Ethical Values with students, colleagues and parents.

  • Strives to implement the District’s mission, goals and objectives outlined in the District’s Strategic Plan.

  • Assumes such other business duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
